How To Control Your Diabetes Naturally

Weight gain can have a highly negative effect on diabetes. Even genetic diabetes is much more common in over weight people.

Adult onset diabetes, or Type 2 diabetes, is most common in people who are overweight, with over 90% of patients of type 2 diabetes being considered overweight. The best thing a Type 2 diabetes sufferer can do is lose weight and gain some control over their weight.

Around 40% of Type 2 diabetes patients also have high blood pressure. High blood pressure is another dangerous condition that is thought to be worsened by carrying excess weight.

Insulin resistance can also be caused by obesity. This is when your body is unable to respond to insulin. Insulin is required to help the body to correctly utilize glucose and sugar in the cells.

If you are at risk of Type 2 diabetes or have already been diagnosed, there are measures you can take to improve your outlook. The main and most pressing task is to lose weight.

It is easy to tell someone to lose weight, but actually doing it can be a challenge. Dieting is an important factor as is exercise.

In fact, the more you exercise the less you will have to worry about your food intake (although you must still be aware of proper diabetes eating habits). By reaching and maintaining a healthy weight you will be able to enjoy your life rather than live in constant worry.

Now is the time to stand up to diabetes and take control, rather than let it control you. Don't just sit around watching television every evening; instead go out for a walk for 30 minutes. A brisk walk does amazing things for the mind and body and after some time you will notice a complete change in your overall wellbeing, and your weight.

Getting active is fun and gives you a positive frame of mind. You don't have to hit the gym if you don't want to, just take on some of those fun activities like tennis, golf, swimming and walking. Enjoy the sun and do some gardening, or volunteer to help with children or animals. All of these tasks will keep you active and help you drop those pounds.

Watching what you eat is an obvious part of losing weight. our diet should be strict in line with weight loss and diabetes management. You will have food restrictions but learning to live with these is part of having diabetes. The alternative simply is not worth the risk.
